DARCY LEWIS

Composer

Incorporating elements of baroque art music, electronica, improvisation and jazz, Darcy Lewis is a composer who breaks down the walls of genre and style in his practice. Having returned from Tokyo, Japan in 2021, Darcy is a now student of composition and music technology at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and uses that opportunity to explore new mediums and techniques for composition and has a passion for bringing historical methods and instruments into the 21st century composition toolbox. His composition work spans choral, big band, chamber music, pieces for solo instruments, ambient and several films including Threadbare (2022) composed for postgraduate students at the Western Australian Screen Academy.  Darcy’s performance practice is centred around improvisation and the use of instruments as an extension of the performer
